Château l’Esparrou is a unique château that has been inspiring poets and artists for centuries with its breathtaking beauty. Originally built in 1889 as a home for the 4th Grand Duke of Spain by Danish architect Petersen, it has welcomed many famous artists and poets over the years, including Raoul Dufy and Jean Cocteau.
Wines have been made on this spot for over 800 years and it was already listed as one of the finest Crus in Roussillon in the 1813 Guide du Voyageur en France
Today, it’s looked after by the Bonfils family who also own Château Capitoul, an iconic winery of La Clape in the Languedoc
Cuvée Bisconte is a limited production wine, and a gold medal-winner at France’s Gilbert & Gaillard International Challenge 2019
Tasting note: Beautiful deep, young-looking ruby. Typically southern, pleasant nose accented by dark fruits and spices with a touch of liquorice. The palate shows lovely volume, polished tannins and more of the same, quite distinctive aromatic character. Authentic.
