This is an archetypal Médoc from a family estate in Saint Christoly-de-Médoc, just north of Saint-Éstephe on the Left Bank. Old vines, classic gravel soils and careful use of oak have resulted in a sophisticated claret with super concentration and delicate toasty nuances. With five years ageing under its belt, this one is drinking beautifully - the tannins have softened and the fruit is enhanced by savoury, earthy hints. Despite its years, the nose is youthful with toasty new oak and crisp blackcurrant fruit. The old vine fruit gives it excellent concentration with earthy, maturing black fruits typical of Cabernet Sauvignon, supple tannin and crisp, balancing acidity.
