Lovely pure-Merlot claret from the hot, 'miracle' 2019 vintage. It's from a small estate with vineyards in a lieu dit named La Perrière, high in the Entre-Deux-Mers,. All fruit, no oak, this Bordeaux offers supple black cherry and redcurrant fruit.

Intense, supple plum and blackcurrant, with firm tannins
Château Bel Air La Perrière is a small property on some of the highest ground in all Bordeaux. It lies in the Entre Deux Mers, a subregion renowned for its excellent value clarets and its crisp dry whites too. Viviane and François Valguayret run the estate, which has been in the same family since 1864. They hope their son, Jérôme, a trained oenologist will join them soon. Using pure Merlot from their well drained chalky clay soils, this red is already very appealing. It's from 2019, described as a 'miracle' vintage as it was free from frost and mildew and the summer was long and hot, with rain at critical moments. You'll taste that excellence in the lovely ripeness and depth of fruit. It's still young, so decant before serving.
"Very pleasant Bordeaux. Smooth, easy drinking , deep red Bordeaux. Excellent"
