The passionate Michel Chapoutier is one of the Rhône's most famous characters. Since he took control of this long-established firm in 1988, quality has soared. Chapoutier now produces the most diverse and complex wines to be found in the northern Rhône. They are particularly well-known for their Hermitage and Condrieu wines, but also produce more kindly priced wines from humble appellations, like Collines Rhodaniennes, next to Côte-Rôtie. Using organic and biodynamic methods in the vineyard, Chapoutier has crafted a delicious, well-balanced and scented white. Whole bunch pressing for freshness, malolactic fermentation and lees ageing for creamy roundness, it sings with honeysuckle, peach and tangerine. "One of the best yet" (Wine Advocate).
