We have worked with Olivier Cazenave for many years and his wines are among our bestselling Bordeaux.
Chateau de Bel is a small property of just 8 hectares of vines on the banks of the Dordogne river, just outside Libourne. This may be classed as a humble Bordeaux Superieur but the vineyard sits a stone’s throw away from Saint Émilion.
Made from 100% estate-grown Merlot, there is an amazing concentration of fruit here with a lush, soft and supple texture.
This is one of those wines that will make you take a fresh look at Bordeaux. It outclasses several more expensive wines from nearby vineyards.
Tasting note: On the nose there are aromas of ripe red berry fruits and a hint of orange peel. Rich and fruity on the palate with good freshness and a long finish. Very smooth with fresh tannins, this is drinking well now.
