Much admired Margaux that delivers way more than its Cru Bourgeois status would imply. 93 points for the very fine 2019 vintage, with its cruncy, pure black fruits, chocolatey richness and polished texture. Claret that will reward some cellaring.
Tasting notes
Deep core of fruit, firm structure, polished and richly complex, long
Aroma
Ripe cassis, blackberry and liquorice, walnut and dark chocolate

Since Peter Sichel took over this superb Margaux estate, it has slowly, but inexorably risen from the ashes. It was in a poor state of repair, but Sichel has invested heavily in bringing both the 32 hectares of vineyards and the cellar up to date. It shines through in the quality of the wines that way exceeds its Cru Bourgeois status. All the better for prices and wine lovers! It is one of the Médoc's oldest estates, dating back to the 12th century and named after the knight Bertrand d'Angludet. Vines have been grown there for 250 years, with Cabernet Sauvignon accounting for just under half of the vineyards, with almost equal Merlot (41%) and a high 13% Petit Verdot, that "with hard work imparts depth and richness". Will reward patience.
