Originally part of Château Beau Séjour Bécot, the estates were divided between the owner's two children in 1869. Its 6.5 hectare of vineyards lie on the Côte of Saint Emilion, on the edge of the limestone plateau, adjoining Château Canon to the east. Since the 2009 vintage, it has been under the management of heavyweights Nicolas Thienpoint and Stéphane Derenoncourt and quality has soared. Improvements in trellising and drainage in the vineyard, replanting vines more densely, lower yields, as well as organic viticultural methods. Equally radical changes have occured in the cellar with block by block fermentation and outstanding results. That includes this high point 2017, aged 18 months in 75% new oak. The 2017 deserves time in the cellar.
