Château Bel Air La Perrière is a small property on some of the highest ground in all Bordeaux. It lies in the Entre Deux Mers, a subregion renowned for its excellent value clarets and its crisp dry whites too. Viviane and François Valguayret run the property, an estate that has been in the same family since 1864. They hope their son, Jérôme, a trained oenologist will join them soon. Using pure Merlot from their well drained chalky clay soils, this red is already very appealing. It's from 2018, a vintage that enjoyed a long hot summer and superb weather right through into mid to late October. You'll taste that in the lovely ripeness and depth of its black cherry, plum and cassis fruit. It's still young, so decant an hour before serving.
