Château Belgrave 2014

Haut-Medoc AOC 5eme Cru Classe

Since the Dourthe family took ownership 41 years ago, the rise of this estate has been meteoric. A refurbishment of both cellars and vineyards, plus Rolland as consultant, has ensured fabulous wines. This 91-92 point, top vintage red is compelling.

This former 18th century hunting lodge and ornate château lies on the edge of Saint Julien. Château Belgrave’s wines have a very similar richness and finesse to those from the great Bordeaux commune and offer excellent value, especially in a great vintage like 2014. The estate was adopted by the Dourthe family in 1979 and it has been transformed. Refurbishment of the cellar and the property’s extensive 55 hectares of vineyard was the start. The employment of Michel Rolland as consultant was the icing on the cake. This 2014 has received top awards from all the major critics worldwide. Cabernet based and aged in fine French oak barriques for 14 months, it has lovely richness and subtle power, with superb complexity matching the dense fruit.

"Masses of ripe fruit, good plummy richness and firm tannins for the future. Fine modern Médoc" Decanter
