In the heart of the Graves appellation, Clos Floridène is named after its founders – the late Denis Dubourdieu and his wife Florence, top names in French viticulture. They chose it for its enviable location high on the calcareous soil plateau of Pujols-sur-Ciron, near Barsac, with plots too on the pebbly soils of Ilats. What started as 2 hectares has gradually been built up to the 31 hectares of today. 2018 was an outstanding year, producing a wine with wonderful ripe fruit balanced by intense mineral freshness. Fermented and aged in new oak barrels, it offers exotic fruit, toasty oak and mineral zip. Decant at least an hour beforehand to allow it to open out. It will age well. Serve cellar cool with fine white meat or fish dishes.
