Pomerol is where most argue the world’s finest Merlot is grown. It’s a tiny appellation on the Right Bank of the Gironde, where the clay is especially thick and heavy. Perfect for holding water, which suits the dark, deep style of Merlot that nowhere else in the world can match. That's certainly true at Feytit Clinet, whose Pomerol is almost entirely Merlot, and therefore boasts a particularly dark, rich, long-lived style. In the hands of super talented Jeremy Chasseuil since the 2000 vintage it has continued to go from strength to strength and now punches well above far pricier neighbours. The 2017 vintage displays a concentrated core of black fruit alongside beautiful aromatics that will continue to unfurl for years to come.

"The 2017 was tremendous on each of the three occasions I tasted it. In a word: Superb" Antonio Galloni
