Costières de Nîmes has been making great wines since the Romans, but have maintained a low profile compared to, say, Châteauneuf-du-Pape. With the quality emerging, we think it's time to change that. The region shares the same big-pebble stones of its more famous neighbour, but its wines retain a little more elegance. You'll taste that lovely finesse in the gorgeous fruit and authentic flavours of Château Grand Bourry. The building is long gone, but the estate belongs today to the Guillot family. They were originally winemakers in Burgundy, but the latest generation, Laurence, decided to move south. Syrah and Grenache lend silky black fruits with classic notes of wild herb and black olive. Superb with grilled meats, cassoulet or cheese.
