Since René Rabiller took over the family estate in 1989, his wines have been receiving great acclaim. It lies in the Marbuzet area of Saint Estèphe, next door to Château Phélan Ségur. His father had previously sold the grapes from the château's 8 hectares to the co-op, but René was convinced they could do much better than that and set about proving it. That included building a new cellar. In 1994, he was rewarded with the classification of 'Cru Artisan'. Typical to Saint Estèphe, his wines have the firm tannins to age very well, plus lovely depth of fruit from mature vines that are 30 years old. A traditional vinification and ageing in French oak barrels lends depth and richness. Open early and enjoy with beef or mushroom wellington.
