Château La Tour Carnet Blanc 2017

Bordeaux AOC

From this truly historic property, parts of which date back to the 11th century, this is a very fine white Bordeaux. It balances luscious creamy guava, papaya and lanolin notes with a bright seam of limey freshness, all wrapped in oaky spice.

Since 1999, the highly regarded Bernard Magrez has been in charge of Château La Tour Carnet, with impressive results. He has returned this property to its former glory. And that's not just it's rather magical moat and drawbridge! It's the rigor and the wine quality too. The property lies in the Haut Médoc and was one of only 10 in that appellation designated as fourth growth in the 1855 classification. Being outside the more famous communes of Pauillac, Margaux and friends, it produces high quality claret at a sensible price. When Magrez purchased it in 1999 it had 44 hectares of vines; today it has 190 hectares, but only two of those are white grapes – Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, Sauvignon Gris and Muscadelle. Luxurious, rich and long.

"Extremely fresh with lemon-rind and apple aromas and hints of green papaya. Hints of oak" James Suckling
