Praise for this vintage has been abundant: “2018 is an exceptional year for Bordeaux wines” wrote US critic James Suckling; Gavin Quinney for JancisRobinson.com concurred “an exceptional year, with no shortage of outstanding wines”. They have that generosity of ripe fruit that makes them both enjoyable in their youth, but also lend them the 'stuffing' to age well. Our Buyer Jean-Marc came across the small Château Les Carrières estate - it's only just up the road from our own La Clarière in Castillon. He loved the ripe and creamy plum fruit of the wine, with its impressive length and intensity thanks to 60 year old vines. To drink now, open early and decant. With age, it'll take on truffle and leafy tobacco notes. A classic roast beef wine.
