Jeff Leve was full of praise for the 2016 – "a big gulp of juicy, peppery, ripe, sweet red fruits, cassis, hints of dark cocoa, liquorice and cigar wrapper", finishing "the wine sells for a song. It is worth buying by the case". The superb estate dates back to 1654, when it was known as La Doys. Christian and Lilian Thieblot made major renovations from 1989, then sold to the Lorenzetti family, who made even greater improvements. Their efforts were rewarded with top accolade ‘Coupe des Crus Bourgeois’ in 2015. They favour a larger proportion of Merlot in the wine, which lends it a luscious plump character, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Petit Verdot, all aged in oak, 30% new, for 15 months. Open early and decant, or cellar.

"Full-bodied and dense with a very velvety texture and a long generous finish of ripe fruit and spice" James Suckling
