Impressive, 93-point Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel Saint Estèphe from this 17th century estate. Only now is it beginning to open up to reveal its lavish layers of black fruit, truffle, spice box and cedar over polished tannins. Exceptional claret.

Every vintage critics praise the wine from this Saint Estèphe estate, which punches well above its Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel status. Wine Advocate said of the 2014, “This comes highly recommended plus great value.” In 2020, they commited to organic conversion. The property dates back to 1654, when it was known as La Doys. Christian and Lilian Thieblot made major renovations from 1989, then sold to the Jacky Lorenzetti, a top French rugby club owner, who has accelerated improvements. His efforts were rewarded with the ‘Coupe des Crus Bourgeois’ in 2015. They favour a large proportion of Merlot in the wine, which lends it a plump character, supported by the Cabernets and a little Petit Verdot, all aged in new oak. Open early and decant.

"Love the black-truffle and dark-berry aromas here that follow through to a firm, full-bodied palate" James Suckling
