Seductive Cru Bourgeois claret from a top estate in Saint-Estèphe with history dating back to 1654. Beautifully rounded, with an attractive bouquet and pronounced fruits, the 2020 has been much praised. Firm, well structured and racy, will age well.

There's been great praise for Bordeaux's 2020 vintage – "stunning wines" (Jancis Robinson), "outstanding quality level" (James Suckling), "an excellent vintage" (Neil Martin), while Vinous described this wine as "deep, fleshy and super expressive". It comes from an estate dating back to 1654, when it was known as La Doys. Christian and Lilian Thieblot made major renovations from 1989, then sold to the Lorenzetti family, who have made even greater improvements. Their efforts were rewarded with the ‘Coupe des Crus Bourgeois’ in 2015. They favour a much larger proportion of Merlot in the wine, which lends it a luscious plump character, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon and a little Petit Verdot, all aged in oak, 40% new. Open early or cellar.

"Aromas of cassis, licorice and a deft touch of creamy new oak. Rather rich and broad palate" William Kelley
