Château Sorbier is located 30 kilometres North-east of Bordeaux, on the Right Bank, 3 kilometres from Libourne, in the commune of Fronsac. Notably, the house was visited and occupied by Hugues Capet, King of the Franks, during his several military campaigns. The tiny appellation of Canon-Fronsac was once the most famed appellation of the Right Bank and a favourite with French royalty. And while it may not be as famous as it once was, the quality of the wines is better than ever – outclassing some of their much more famous neighbours. Made from a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2014 is drinking beautifully with aromas of cassis, violets and spice. It’s rich and concentrated with voluptuous dark fruit on the palate and a smooth, creamy finish.
