A rare opportunity to obtain a fine, Right Bank claret with a decade of maturity. It's drinking beautifully now, with just the right amount of elegant mellow fruit and gentle tannins. From this much overlooked vintage, a silky, complex Bordeaux.

The 2011 vintage was a challenging year, when summer arrived in spring, autumn in summer and spring late on! However for some winemakers that is just the sort of year they excel in. The vintage also rewarded the brave – those who held out until well into October to harvest at optimum ripeness. With nine awards in total, including two Golds, Château Monrecueil was a big success. It is the second wine of Château de Belcier in prime Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, a region often overlooked for Saint Emilion next door. However both regions enjoy the same soils and climate and grow the same grapes. So, grab yourself a bargain from Castillon. With a decade of ageing, it is best to stand the bottle upright for a few hours in case of sediment.
