Here’s a claret to prove that when you visit the lesser known châteaux, there’s incredible value to be found. Château Saint-Paulin is made by the Auduteau family, who began making wines on the property in 1730. Today it’s 6th generation Jacqueline Auduteau and her son, Thierry, who manage the estate. The team waits until the last possible moment to harvest grapes for this red to ensure maximum ripeness of fruit. The wine is then unoaked to allow for all that vibrant fruit richness to shine. Made predominantly from plummy Merlot (70%), there's an abundance of approachable, ripe damson flavour, while a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec adds layers of darker fruits. Perfect with simple roast meats or vegetable kebabs with couscous.

"It's the touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec that makes this claret really sing! A terrific find" Jennie Perry
