Chianti is one of Italy’s great classic reds and Riserva denotes a superior wine with ageing. This fabulous 2016 is from a superb family estate we've worked with for 30 years. From the highly regarded Rufina district, this is a long, complex Riserva.

Paolo Masi is a gifted winemaker who has been delighting fans with his well priced, handcrafted Tuscan reds for nearly 30 years. His flagship Chianti Riserva is a notch above most others thanks to his sheer dedication to quality. Founded in 1900, the Masi property, Fattoria di Basciano, lies high on a hill, overlooking the Argomenna valley. It lies in Rufina, described by Wine Enthusiast as "one of the most quality-driven zones", and comprises 45 hectares of vines, 20 hectares each of olive groves and swathes of woodland. Paolo took over the estate from his father in 1993 and has worked hard to modernise and improve both the vineyards and the cellar. Aged in oak barrels for 14 months, this 2016 Riserva is a silky, rich and complex Chianti.
