In 2007 brothers Andrew and Peter-Allan Finlayson founded the Crystallum estate, with their first vintage in 2008. 12 years later, they are regarded as leaders in South African winemaking. Tim Atkin MW rates them 'First Growth' and critic Neal Martin wrote, "Here is one of Hemel-en-Aarde’s most refined and terroir-driven expressions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir." They are sons of the renowned Peter Finlayson, a pioneer of Hemel en Aarde and today they focus purely on these two Burgundian grapes. The Agnes is Chardonnay taken from five vineyards, including for the first time, the 700m-altitude Ceres plateau. Wild yeasts, oak fermentation and a gentle hand in the cellar, The Agnes has Burgundian finesse. Serve just cool with fine cuisine.
