Beneath the silky texture of this elegant Crianza lies a red of grip, power and finesse. It’s pure Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero’s high vineyards and a family estate that has three times won ‘Best Red in Spain’. Intense, peppery fruit and long.

Ribera del Duero is Spain’s “most fashionable region” (FT) thanks to a stellar list of high priced, glorious, Tempranillo based reds. Curato de Silos Crianza is a superb example, but manages to deliver all that luxurious taste at a more down to earth price. Founded in 1994 by Amalio Aragón and now run by his two sons and daughter, Bodegas Cillar de Silos has long been held in high regard – their flagship red, Torresilo, has won Best Wine at the Wines of Spain awards three times. This fine Crianza is made purely from Tempranillo, known here as Tinto Fino. It was aged for over a year in mainly French oak for extra complexity. With smooth plum and cherry, this is a rich taste of all that’s great about Ribera del Duero. A top choice with lamb.
