Davide di Prima produces small volumes of premium reds from vines planted decades ago by his grandfather, Gaspare, high up on the steep hillsides overlooking Lago Arancio. In Di Prima Nero d'Avola, Davide uses select Nero d’Avola grapes (the most important red grape in Sicily) for their rich fragrant style. Then oak-ages the wine for six months using a mix of French and Slavonian oak. The result is a sumptuous red, with intense ripe plum and black cherry flavour, dark chocolate notes, soft sweet spices and a luxuriously smooth mouthfeel. With a firm structure typical of the best Sicilian wines, it is best enjoyed with roasted meats and rich dishes.
