Australian Ant Moore moved to Marlborough in 2002 to set up a winery from scratch. He planted vineyards, built a new winery and still looks after everything from tending the vines to blending the wines. As Marlborough Sauvignon has become increasingly popular, investment in the region has soared meaning many wineries are now owned by large companies. So it’s great to still find people like Ant who have complete control over the vineyards and craft wines in their own unique style. Doctors Point Sauvignon is sourced from a high altitude vineyard overlooking the scenic Waihopai Valley. The grapes here benefit from a long, slow, flavour intensifying ripening period Ant’s ‘house style’ is typified by lemon and lime with clear minerality on the palate Crisp acidity and delicate mineral nuances on the finish make it a great match for seafood. A traditional style of Marlborough Sauvignon with flavours of ripe stone fruit and tropical notes on the palate and luscious cut grass and passion fruit scents on the nose.
