Robert Parker sums it up: “Courbis is a name to watch in the Northern Rhone", "an immaculate estate". The domaine dates back to the 16th century and brothers Dominique and Laurent Courbis combine today a long family tradition with a youthful energy and modern style. The result has been international recognition and some truly outstanding wines. Indeed, their wines are considered some of the most compelling examples of Saint-Joseph and Cornas today. They also source grapes from the rugged Ardèche right next door. This pure Syrah red from the excellent 2020 vintage shows off their terrific winemaking skills. Silky, herbal black fruit, it's a well-structured, serious red, tops with lamb, moussaka lentil bake or seriously meaty sausages.
