Clos de Vougeot needs no introduction. One of the legendary Grand Cru vineyards on Burgundy’s exceptional Côte de Nuits, first pegged out in the 12th century. In the hands of Drouhin Laroze, without question one of Burgundy’s finest domaines, it truly shines. The iconic walled vineyard of Clos de Vougeot was the place that winemakers first established the primacy of terroir to top Burgundy – over 750 years ago Drouhin Laroze, which dates back to 1850, is widely acknowledged to make some of the best examples from this Grand Cru Careful selection, using grapes from both the middle of the vineyard and the higher slopes, meant that Drohin could make a 94 point wine even in a trickier vintage like 2013. Rich purple ruby, with red and black fruits on the nose mingling with undergrowth and smokiness. Bright, intense and concentrated on the palate, showing silky tannins and structured acidity.
