If you love classic Sauvignon or count yourself as a great Sancerre fan, try Anne-Sophie's divine Domaine Figeat Pouilly-Fumé. This is the other Central Loire appellation vying for the greatest Sauvignon crown and it certainly delivers in this pristine 2021. Anne-Sophie is a tenth-generation winemaker, who went off first to train in medicine, but her passion for Pouilly won through. She rejoined the family tradition, training at Dijon, then did a stint at Cloudy Bay. And it's paid dividends, giving her a New World outlook to her fine French upbringing. This is from her single vineyard, Les Craies, with its fine limestone soils, ideal for flinty, herbaceous and capiscum flavour. Citrus and minerally fresh, serve with finest seafood.
