Established in 1859, this remarkable domaine, "up there with the greats like Comtes-Lafon, Leflaive and so on" (Neal Martin) is run today by the fifth generation, siblings Jean Michel and Anne Laure Chartron. They have 13 hectares of vineyards in Puligny Montrachet and the neighbouring villages, including a number of Premiers and Grands Crus vineyards such as Chevalier Montrachet. However, these vineyards can't contain their curiousity, so the pair often search out vineyards further afield. J-M's delicious Savigny 'religious, nourishing and death defying' has ripe pear fruit, with shimmers of fresh peach, crème Anglais and minerality, while oak remains very much an integrated, background note. A superb white to enjoy now or to cellar.

"Hints of pear with notions of white flowers. Crisp and tangy, with a ripe core of fruit" William Kelley
