The Monnier family have been winemakers ‘from father to son’ since 1720. Whether from Meursault, Volnay, Pommard or Beaune, their wines bear all the qualities and subtleties of the terroir from which they are harvested. 2020 was a great vintage and this wine is from one of Meursault's top three Premiers Crus. It’s one of the most southerly, on southeast-facing slopes, with particularly stony soils, so that the grapes reach excellent ripeness whilst still retaining a superb grip of minerality. The wine is carefully handcrafted by Jean-Claude Monnier and his son Nicolas. It has all the golden richness you’d expect of a Meursault, with a core of acidity. The lush spice tones gained from judicious oak ageing will develop further with cellaring.
