Julien Sunier’s converted farmhouse in Avénos might not be much to look at, but the organically farmed wines he produces here are gaining world-wide attention. This shows off Regnié’s juicy, crunchy style to perfection. Made from the fruit of 60-year-old Gamay vines grown on steep, south-facing pink granite slopes The traditional Beaujolais winemaking technique of carbonic maceration gives the wine lovely softness and a fruit forward style 2016 was a vintage in which the very best Cru Beaujolais vignerons, like Julien Sunier, produced wines of real elegance and charm . Freshness and complexity are the hallmarks of this barrel-aged Regnié. Intense aromas of summer fruit flavours and wild flowers, juicy strawberry and raspberry flavours and a fresh finish. At its best served very lightly chilled.
