From a tiny estate sandwiched between the Grenache hotspots of Châteauneuf and Le Plan de Dieu, this is a great value Rhône red. 2014 and 2015 won so many 5-Star reviews, we revisited the family and were equally impressed by 2016’s lush, ripe fruit.
Tasting notes
Smooth and rounded with layers of bramble, red berry and cassis
Aroma
Ripe bramble, plum and red fruit with a hint of savoury oak

Our Buyers are always on the hunt for a bargain and first rate wine. Jehan Sacaze has certainly come up trumps here with this tasty Rhône red. It scored Gold in both the last two vintages and, judging by the quality of 2016, this one will be equally successful. The winemaker is local-born Patrice Cosrand, who had previously only sold his wines in the vicinity of the estate. However, after a stream of medal successes he was keen to give his wines a little international exposure. Hence this glorious ripe red on our list today. It’s the classic southern Rhône blend of velvety Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, which gives a rich, peppery wine with lots of red fruit. Supple enough to enjoy solo, it’s best with lamb and garlicky ratatouille.
