The roots of this southern Rhône family estate date back to 1780, when their ancestor first planted vines in Tavel and pioneered wine production there. Fast forward to 1970 and grandfather of the youngest generation, Jean Pierre Lafond, built a cellar on the site they have today. He had a great love of horses, so named the domaine after a great racehorse, Roquepine, adding a more Provençal spelling. Based in Tavel, the family has over the years gained prized vineyards in many of the top appellations, including Lirac and Châteauneuf. Lirac is a quarter of the size of its more famous neighbour and only 10% of production is white. Lafond Roc-Epine's 2020 is a delight - stone fruit, floral notes, herbal and zesty. Ideal solo and with seafood.
