In the words of wine expert Andrew Jefford, Chablis is “quite unlike any other wine on earth”, a claim exemplified by this fabulous Premier Cru from the great Domaine Long Depaquit. This historic property, family owned from 1791, was bought in 1967 by one of the most impressive houses in Burgundy, Maison Albert Bichot. The domaine, however, is still run autonomously. Les Beugnons is a beautiful 2.4 hectare parcel of vines located in the Valvan valley. It's entitled to the name ‘Vaillons’ but the owners prefer to keep to the original name because of the unique character and age of the vineyard. It is a rich, creamy wine with a complex array of pear and citrus finely balanced by flinty acidity. Serve with fine seafood such as oysters or crab.
