Domaine MIA is one of the most important organic estates of the Côte Chalonnaise, now converting to more-exacting biodynamic methods too. Its vineyards include six climats – small areas creating unique and distinct wines. One of these is Les Plantenays in Rully. The stony marl and limestone soils nurture vines up to 35 years old and produce exceptional Chardonnay with great minerality, elegance and finesse. Since 2020, daughter Mia Subotic has been in charge, using eco-friendly methods (she ensures her packaging is sustainable too) and working alongside leading wine consultant David Duband. Their processes are gentle – handpicking, whole bunch pressing and fermentation with wild yeasts, in part-new barrels. A wine of freshness and length.
