Château Marie du Fou is the home of Domaine Mourat, just south of Muscadet. It was bought by Jean Mourat in 1974 and has been managed by his son Jérémie since 1999. The vineyards are located in Fiefs Vendéens, a small region near the Atlantic coast and arguably the Loire’s best-kept secret. Blessed with lots of sunshine and a cool, maritime climate, it produces top-class Sauvignon, Chenin and Pinot Noir that rarely escape the region, let alone France! Judicious oak ageing of this Chenin Blanc adds subtle vanilla notes to complement the rich fruit flavours. Aromas of lemons and ripe, tropical fruit with bright, crisp acidity with herbal undertones. Rich pineapple fruit on the palate with a fresh acidity. Delicious with grilled salmon or a Thai green curry.
