Domaine Mourat Sacré Blanc Chenin Blanc 2017

Val de Loire IGP

Few have heard of Fiefs Vendéens, south of Muscadet, but they soon will, with Jérémie Mourat there. He makes amazingly fresh yet ripe whites at his family estate, and his brilliantly intense, almost tropical Chenin Blanc is in a league of its own.

Jérémie Mourat makes wines that you won’t forget. His Chenin Blanc, for one, stands out for its remarkable, intense ripe fruit, balanced by a piercing lemon freshness. Well, his father did know the Marie du Fou estate was a special spot when he bought it in 1974. Since Jérémie took it over in 1999 he has expanded the vineyards fivefold, acquired two organic properties and built a spanking new cellar. Jérémie is meticulous about quality, and a winemaker who is always keen to try something new. He is currently also working on a Chenin Blanc project in South Africa, and on a special long aged Muscadet. Using old vine grapes, this white is wonderfully concentrated with creamy lemon and ripe guava fruit. Delicious solo or with a spicy stir-fry.

"Creamy lemon with amazing intensity and pinpoint freshness. Top quality from this family domaine" Jehan Sacaze
