Philippe Pernot is son of the renowned Puligny producer Paul Pernot and is certainly playing his part in keeping up the reputation of the family name. He and his wife (the Belicard side) launched their own domaine in 2009, with just six hectares of vines, also in Puligny. They started by selling their grapes to négociants, but, gradually, with confidence, making more and more of the wines themselves. Philippe is meticulous in his methods – both in the vineyard and in the cellar. He likes to pick quite early, all by hand, with hand sorting at the cellar too. 2018 was described as ‘one of the greatest ever vintages’ by Decanter. This Burgundy is well balanced, with ripe stone and citrus fruits with a backbone of minerality. Only gently chill.
