Critic Andrew Jefford writes that René Rostaing “has made himself into one of the very finest producers of Côte-Rôtie”. Wine Advocate calls his 2016s "outstanding. A fine example of the appellation". Starting off with less than half a hectare in 1971, split between the Côte Blonde and La Landonne, René inherited another 5.5 hectares from his father in law and uncle, and he now makes some of the appellation’s finest wines. He is a traditionalist at heart, bent on making his wines taste of true Côte-Rôtie terroir, and eschews the riper, more populist styles of the region. For Côte-Rôtie fans, he is a winemaking hero. Very approachable now, this wine will also improve enormously with age. Exquisite with lamb or a rich game casserole.

"Briary notes of ripe red fruit with spice and herb shadings. Silky and fine, licorice and tea" Joe Czerwinski
