Parker wrote, "René Rostaing is one of Côte Rôtie’s most masterful growers". He started out in 1971 with just 0.47 hectares of Côte-Rôtie vineyards in the Côte Blonde and La Landonne. He had excellent guidance from his uncle, the great grower Marius Gentaz. In 1990 he inherited 3.5 hectares from his father in law, another renowned, old school grower, Albert Dervieux Thaize, who was president of the Côte Rôtie growers’ association for 33 years. These plots are truly some of the best and most ancient, in Fongent, La Garde and La Viaillière. Today his son Pierre has taken over the 6 hectares of Côte-Rôtie and is also attracting huge praise. He called his 2018s "rich, aromatic and expressive". Judging by the near perfect scores, he's spot on!
