Domaine Yann Chave 2018

Crozes-Hermitage AOC

It’s surprising that a winemaker as consistently brilliant as Yann Chave could've managed to fly under the radar for so long. But the word is out. His Crozes Hermitage from magnificent 2018 has fine silky raspberry fruit with tobacco, herbal layers.

Yann Chave is hot property. His wines are listed by all top Michelin starred French chefs, Bocuse, Ducasse and Troisgros among them. You will definitely not find his wines in supermarkets! We’re delighted with this 2018, which is as impressive as many a Hermitage and well priced too. It has a haunting nose of cracked pepper and olive tapenade with swathes of raspberry and blackberry fruit on the palate. Remarkably smooth and balanced, so will not only drink beautifully in youth but age gracefully, too. Crafted from Syrah, the fruit of magnificent 50 year old vines grown near the Pont de l’Isère. Only free run juice goes into this exclusive cuvée, which is fermented and aged in large 600 litre barrels. Reserve for special occasions.

"Black cherry and raspberry aromas and flavors. Savory black olive notes. Complexity and balance" Joe Czerwinski
Wine Advocate, for 2017
