Domaine de Mourchon is a family-run estate in Séguret with a treasure trove of 50-year-old vines growing on sun-drenched terraced vineyards.
Tradition was Domaine de Mourchon’s very first wine, a classic blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan from their old vines
We buy these wines direct from the McKinlay family at the winery in Séguret, a beautiful village just to the north of Gigondas
We’re huge fans of this estate and we’re not the only ones. Leading American critic Robert Parker describes it as ”One of the reference point estates in the Southern Côtes du Rhône”
Tasting note: A typical Côtes du Rhône Villages blend of Grenache, Syrah and Carignan but has significantly more power and structure than most wines of this appellation. That’s thanks to the low-yielding, very old vines which give great depth and concentration of fruit. Rich and velvety with blackberries, raspberries and a hint of spice, it’s delicious with slow-cooked meats or roasted vegetables.
