Lyne Marchive’s 27-hectare domaine is one of the best in Chablis, making some of the most consistently outstanding wines. When she started out, Lyne planned to take a place at wine school in Beaune, but discovering she would be the only girl, she decided simply to learn 'on the job'. She’s assisted by Guénolé Breteaudeau, who grew up in the Loire Valley, itself a hotbed of the purest, linear fresh French whites. Together they produce absolutely classic Chablis, full of the seashell and mineral character that devotees search for, alongside green apple and intense lemon elegance. From this superb .9 hectare Grand Cru, this is a beautifully chiselled white, part fermented in old oak for texture, it will age for years. Open early and decant.
