This Vau de Vey is a wonderful, classic expression of Premier Cru Chablis from a vintage "full of fruit yet with great energy too” (Jancis Robinson). Full, rounded, ripe and floral, underscored by intense minerality and pure fruit concentration.
Beyond the Label
Minerally, citrusy with hints of hay and delicate peach
Ripe citrus fruit, green apple and a hint of apricot
The 2019 year has been heaped with praise – "2019 is a superb vintage" (RobertParker.com); "I love the 2019 vintage for both whites and reds” (Vinous); "fill your boots" said InsideBurgundy. Domaine des Malandes is owned by Lyne Marchive, who inherited it from her father André Tremblay. She has certainly made the most of this great vintage. It showcases wonderful power, richness and intensity, all whilst still retaining that all important vibrancy and minerality classic to Chablis. Part fermentation in old oak vats, like her Grand Cru, enhances the ripe, creamy texture, without lending any obvious oak. Tightly packed and very fine, it's no wonder the wine has received such praise from critics. Open early and serve with oysters. Or cellar.
"If you love great Burgundy, you should think about securing some 2019s quickly"
