Since Stéphane Robert and his wife Sandrine founded their domaine in 1994 they have attracted enormous praise from the likes of Decanter, Wine Spectator and Wine Advocate. The 11-hectare property stretches across three prestigious appellations – Cornas, Saint-Joseph and Saint-Péray – and their wines have become reference points for all three. Stunning complexity, richness, intensity and poise are apparent in every wine. Saint-Joseph is one of the less well-known northern Rhône appellations, producing pure-Syrah reds, just like Hermitage a little to the south. Indeed, Stéphane was an apprentice at Domaine Jean-Louis Grippat – the beacon of Saint-Joseph. Aged for 14 months in old oak barrels, this red is complex, layered and deliciously long.
