Napa Valley’s Dominus Estate was established in 1983 by legendary Bordeaux winemaker Christian Moueix – the man behind Pétrus where his top wines fetch over £2,000 a pop! His Napanook red is a Cabernet-led claret, made using fruit sourced from the historic Napanook vineyard in Yountville, where vines are over 100 years old. Known as the little brother to Dominus, this sumptuous red is created to be enjoyed young and with food, but it also has the potential to age for well over a decade. The superb 2018 vintage received high praise from critics. James Suckling scored it 97pts noting its “remarkable purity and tons of grace.” Aged to perfection in part new oak, it’s a magnificent cuvée with rich fruity depth and charm. Open early and decant.
