If you're looking a ripe claret ready for drinking now, but will age too, then 2018 is an excellent vintage to choose. It had some tricky moments in spring due to abundant rain and warm conditions, but vignerons who worked hard in the vineyard were rewarded with super quality fruit. That was due to a hot, dry summer that extended right through into October. A rare treat. Château Camarsan is the property of François Coutureau. It lies in the village of Grézac, with vineyards in several sites, including a few on the other side of the river in the Entre Deux Mers. Using nearly all Merlot, with a little raspberry and leafy scented Cabernet Franc, with no oak, it is showing smooth, ripe red fruits. An elegant classic to serve with roast meats.
