Château La Rose Montauran is the prized estate of the Lasnier family. Current owner Francis took over the reins 30 years ago and has worked hard to build a modern winery and to improve the vineyards. Their 2018 is lovingly crafted from grapes grown on a plot on the left side of the Dordogne river. South facing on the plateau of Jugazan and benefitting from sun filled days, the vineyard produces concentrated grapes that result in intense ripe red fruit and leafy complexity. Using 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a savoury blend that gives this red a classic structure with plenty of intense fruit. Drink now or cellar. It makes a fine partner to roasted or grilled meats, with seasonal roasted vegetable pilaf or a gentle moussaka.

"With its soft tannins and supple fruit, this is a charming, midweight claret that's ready to enjoy" Jean-Marc Sauboua
