6x Oude Kaap Reserve Chenin Blanc 2019, Western Cape
Just landed! 2019 release of Cape Chenin Blanc
Whilst our friends in Europe are only just starting picking the 2019 vintage, South African winemakers are already releasing their first wines! Chenin Blanc is one of the most versatile and food-friendly of whites and excels in the Western Cape, producing crisp, tangy whites like this one.
With lots of ripe, juicy tropical fruit and a zip of citrus on the finish, this is delicious with seafood risotto, goat’s cheese or simply grilled fish.
6x Château Gaudrelle Vouvray 2017
For a glass of Chenin Blanc in its most classic form, you need to head to the Loire Valley and in particular, the slopes of Vouvray. Alex Monmousseau’s Château Gaudrelle is beautifully balanced with wonderful freshness and intensity of fruit.
“This medium-bodied, rounded, off-dry white offers up beautiful notes of peach, honeyed apple, and citrus-like aromas and flavors. I love its purity, it has good acidity, and it’s a brilliant white that’s going to shine for at least 4-5 years, and I suspect much longer. There’s no need to delay gratification though." 91pts, Jeb Dunnuck.
